Walmart continues to gain U.S. market share, with grocery and ecommerce helping drive another quarter of sales growth. Walmart U.S. reported $125.2 billion in second-quarter sales, up 3.5% year over year, while comparable sales excluding fuel increased 2.6%. Transactions increased 1.5%.
Grocery was also a bright spot at Sam’s Club, where comparable sales excluding fuel increased 4.4%, driven by higher transaction counts and unit volumes. Transactions jumped 7%, and net sales increased 8.8% to $25.7 billion.
Walmart’s results also highlight how increasingly intertwined grocery and ecommerce have become. Walmart U.S. ecommerce sales grew 24%, led by store-fulfilled delivery, while Sam’s Club ecommerce sales increased 26%. The company continues to leverage its extensive physical store network as both a traditional shopping destination and a platform for pickup and delivery.
Following the quarter, Walmart raised its fiscal 2027 outlook and now expects net sales to increase 4% to 5%, up from its previous forecast of 3.5% to 4.5%.
